Written Materials
- - - - - Various. . . . planned but not ready yet - - like a Guide/Discussion of what's involved in say, putting an inline 4 cylinder vw engine into a previously-waterboxer Vanagon - what the options and choices are, what parts will be required, advantages/disadvantages of various configurations, etc.
Also planning guide discussions and drawings/diagrams of how to make a very nice turbo diesel exhaust system out of readily-available exhaust parts, how to modify a vanagon left engine mount to clear a turbo etc. If you have a desire to purchase something like that, email me please.
Also planned, but not ready yet - Fuel System Discussion for 1.9 and 2.1 Waterboxer Vanagons. . . You know, it doesn't run right and you've replaced the tune-up parts and don't know what to check next .....planned is an entire discussion and explanation of what each component does, and how to check each part of the system, INCLUDING...which I've never seen in any repair manual ....real-life 'CASE EXAMPLES' .......I describe a real-life vehicle's symptoms, the diagnosis process, my logic at arriving at what actions to take ( replace this, adjust that, etc. ) and the results produced, so you can start to understand that beast for yourself. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . .. . . . . . NOTE - I don't sell these discussions to just anyone...you must demonstrate some savvy about working on cars....I may give you a test or something. Five Levels of 'car repair experience and ability' are identified, and you tell me which one you're in - don't worry about looking or sounding good, just be honest - it's no big deal - what you don't know yet. This is so "everybody wins." The usual dire warnings about copyright and liability especially apply for these written materials - i.e. I'll do a careful job, but you are on your own and responsible for everything you do, Baby !
I have a document prepared called "Copyright, Liability, and Safety" that I mail out with Written Materials. If you would like to read it, click here.
Another planned Written Discussion : The Diagnostic Process. Many people don't spend enough time in the 'information gathering phase' and jump to an action to take, like replace the 'framistat' , then find out that wasn't the problem ( and, believe it or not, as unbelievable as it may sound, once in a great while professional automotive repair people make this mistake too ! ). This discussion clearly lays out, in detail, a diagnostic process that I have honed for decades that works really, really well - it points out the essence of the diagnostic process.
WRITTEN MATERIALS FOR AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR PROFESSIONALS - want to have almost every last job go down right, no comebacks, no upset customers ? I teach it. You might be really good with your method, and I promise you'll learn some new things here. It's a great feeling to be clearly in control of the repair situation, to be deeply appreciated by your customers, and to have nearly every job go just right. Planned but not written yet. Ultimately will be part of a book. I dream of the day that competent, honest, car repair, including flawless workmanship and great communication, is readily available to every one, everywhere.
Why would I know anything special in these departments ? - click on this link when it's ready : My resume in communication and empowerment training and experience. . . or something to that effect.
